RELEASE DATE AND WHERE TO WATCH

Prime Video has announced that The Man with the Bag will premiere globally on its service on December 2, 2026. The date places the movie in the holiday viewing season. No theatrical release date has been announced in the official information cited here.

THE STORY SETUP

The official premise begins with Santa’s magical red bag being stolen. Awkwafina plays a rogue elf who has a grudge against Santa, and Alan Ritchson plays a thief whose name is on Santa’s Naughty List. Santa recruits the thief to help recover the bag. Their plan brings together a crew of “criminally skilled misfits,” with elves and reindeer also part of the mission.

That setup gives the film a holiday-fantasy backdrop and a caper-style objective: find Santa’s stolen bag. The official synopsis does not reveal the full chain of events, the specific obstacles the group encounters, or how the story ends, so those details remain unknown ahead of release.

THE OFFICIAL TEASER

Prime Video’s official teaser introduces the title and holiday premise. Its role in the rollout is to establish the central hook: Santa must rely on a thief from his Naughty List to help retrieve a stolen bag. The teaser and official announcement confirm that premise, but they do not provide enough information to describe the film’s complete plot.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR

The story’s defining contrast is already clear: Santa’s recovery mission depends on a thief, while the supporting team includes both magical helpers and misfits with criminal skills. How the movie balances those ingredients—and what motivates each member of the crew—will become clearer as Prime Video releases more information. The official materials referenced below do not yet provide a full character-by-character breakdown or ending details.

RECAPRUSH PERSPECTIVE

The most distinctive part of The Man with the Bag’s premise is the unlikely team-up at its center. A Christmas rescue mission led by Santa, with a thief and a crew of misfits in tow, gives the film a clear caper-shaped hook. The official teaser establishes that idea; the movie’s eventual success will depend on how it develops the characters and comedy around it.
